NBA family visits SOS children’s home
As part of its bit to social responsibility, the National Basketball Association hosted a series of events to give back to the community, NBA in partnership with Habitat for Humanity South Africa had over 100 volunteers made of players, coaches and legends who helped in building 10 houses in Lenasia south for families who live in shacks and are in need of proper shelter.
The partnership between NBA and habitat for humanity SA has been in existence since 2007,helping to build homes in townships like Ivory Park, Orange Farm and Katlehong. These two organizations are working together to try and break the cycle of poverty in South Africa through awareness.
NBA legend, Dikembe Mutombo says he is very excited to be a part of this great event in making sure that 10 families will have proper houses.
Daphney Makombane, a mother of three, said she really appreciates the effort the two organizations are doing for her and her family, she says the new house will change her life and family for the better, they will have more privacy in the house and the house will protect them from intense weather conditions.
