Teaching and learning has resumed at Minerva High school this morning following allegations of corporal punishment at the school on Monday.
It is alleged that a teacher n school principal assaulted a Grade 10 learner who retaliated and poured water on the teacher, it is reported that the learner was intoxicated with drugs (Dagga) and was later arrested by police who had to use pepper spray.
On Friday at the same school an English teacher allegedly assaulted a Grade 10 learner.
COSAS Deputy Chairperson in Johannesburg Mokgethi Makhura says they have taken a resolution at their last Congress to allow learners to pour teachers with water if they face any form of corporal punishment.
The two learners has since been suspended from the school pending investigations.
Attempts to get response from both the school principal Mrs Tsatsi and Gauteng department of Education were futile.
