Alexandra, Cnr 3^rd & Watt Street, August 22, 2018 – In the past couple of weeks the station has been through a lot of trials and tribulations but throughout all the challenges that the station has faced over the weeks; we are proud to announce that through the learnership programme with The Media Connection we have 6 of our colleagues being Shirley Mathakga, Neo Dihlabiso, Marry-Anna Nobela, Khomotso Ramushu, Omphemtse Matabane and  Zeephora Lesunye will be  graduating on Friday the 24^th August 2018.

The Learnership programme is work-based education and training that consist of both structured theoretical learning and practical workplace experience. The programme is a qualification registered with National Qualifications Framework (NQF) with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). The Former CEO of Media Development and Diversity Agency, former Board Member of MICT-SETA and Current CEO of USAASA Mr Lumko Mtimde will be gracing the inaugural Learnership Graduation Ceremony as a Guest Speaker.

“We are very proud of our fellow colleagues for attaining this important qualification. This goes to prove yet again that indeed Alex FM champions for education. We remain a platform of developing young people and we also appreciate The Media Connection Training Academy for accommodating our people on this great learning opportunity.” says Takalane Nemangowe, Alex FM Station Manager.

They will now use the qualification that they have ascertained to access more opportunities as well as increase their chances of being employed in the media and broadcasting field.

 “I am grateful for the opportunity. I know a lot about radio, from editing audio to scripting shows, something I didn’t know before. I am now confident that this will open opportunities within the radio space. To Alex FM, thank you for the opportunity, and to Media Connection, we have made, despite the challenges we encountered” says Shirley Mathakga, graduate.
