Ramaphosa was announced as the new president of Africa’s oldest liberation movement in Nasrec, Johannesburg on Monday, beating Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma in what has been said to be the most fiercely contested national elective conference to date.
A total of 4 776 delegates to the National conference voted, including the leagues, the National Executive Committee and Provincial General Councils.
Ramaphosa won the position with 2 440 votes. Dlamini-Zuma received 2261 votes with 179 difference
Ramaphosa is the 14th president of the African National Conference .
